Whether we are aware of it or not, when you're on the mat, we're taking a unique perspective of what's called, "the observer". Once we do become aware of this gift, we end up devoting more and more of our time on the mat to more fully exploring ourselves. We see each moment as an opportunity to pay closer attention to what's going on within.
One of the most important discoveries we make when we turn our attention inwards is a more complete comfortable sense of self. Not only do we tap into our inborn strengths during challenging moments on the mat, but we find these hidden blessings in the challenges we face in our day-to-day lives. Although initially, there may be resistance to going inward, we soon realize that the very resistance is there to strengthen us.
With practice, the lessons are easier to recognize and the resistance begins to acquiesce to our pathway to personal power. Wisdom traditions counsel us that, the healing of old wounds is often a matter of looking at them from a new perspective. When we do take a fresh look, we may discover that a trying situation or event directly or indirectly facilitated our internal most strengths. We affirm that all of life's challenges have positively impacted our own personal evolution. At this moment, our practice evolves from a mere physical one to one with deeper, spiritual meaning.
